Holocaust Memorial Event ‘Fragility of Freedom’

This event is supported by Nailsea Town Council, North Somerset Council and Nailsea Folk Club.

The evening will be opened by Sharon Foster, High Sheriff of Bristol. Sharon was appointed in 2023.  She is passionate about opportunities for education for children and young people.  She has been a school governor and is also a trustee of the Beira Mozambique Trust, a project of the Southern African Resources Centre.

This year's key note speaker is Tim Cole M.A., Ph.D.(Cantab.), Professor of Social History at the University of Bristol.  Tim's research ranges widely across social, landscape and environmental histories with a focus on the Holocaust and how it is remembered.

We are pleased to host the Ukrainian vocal ensemble “Kozachki”.  Kozachiki was created in October 2022 from a group of women who were forced to leave their homes and relocate to Bristol because of

the war with Russia. With their singing, they will convey to you the culture of their people and their love for Ukrainian song!
